This video speaks for itself. The Feds, with the active compliance and culpability of the mass media, have sold us a lie. And we South Carolinians and our fellow Southerners continue to vote for people who have none of our interests at heart. It is time for a change, folks. It is time to forward our own agenda, our own ideas and own interests. Forget the empire. We are a sovereign people, distinct in countless ways, and we deserve to be free.

The changes that have transformed the South during our lifetimes have created an environment that is not condusive to a healthy life. In the South, with worse poverty than other parts of America, the problem of obesity has become great. This article from CNN highlights obesity as a problem in the several States. If you look even casually at the map you will see that obesity is especially a Southern problem. The States listed with the highest rates were all Southern except Michigan. South Carolina was not as bad as some other States in Dixie, but it is apparent that this problem needs to be seriously addressed. For this reason, though we are a political blog, we are trying to draw some attention to the issue. Southern leaders need to get out in front of this thing so that some progress can be made before we are all tipping the scales.

With record levels of public mistrust and disapproval of both major parties and all branches of the Federal Government, it is not surprising perhaps that more and more people are supporting or wish to support a Third Party candidate. ‘Nearly half of Americans think it would be good for the country if an independent candidate won the 2008 presidential election, according to the latest FOX News Poll. And despite acknowledging the improbability of the candidate winning, a majority says they would consider voting for an independent for president.’
The more choices we have, the more parties and candidates running, the better. How is it possible for two parties to represent the views of 300 million people? It obviously is not. We deserve more choices – better choices.

It seems South Carolinians are not the only folks in the US with a strong distaste for the Federal Government’s corruption and tyranny. New polls indicate that the vast majority of all Americans disapprove of both Congress and the President. The poll shows over 62% of of people disapprove of President Bush. Congress is even less popular, with 66% disapproval.

In a related story, anger towards the Federal Government is growing. ‘The national survey of 1,010 adults also found that anger against the federal government is at record levels, with 54 percent saying they “personally are more angry” at the government than they used to be. Widespread resentment and alienation toward the national [sic! Federal] government appears to be fueling a growing acceptance of conspiracy theories about the 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon… Thirty-six percent of respondents overall said it is “very likely” or “somewhat likely” that federal officials either participated in the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon or took no action to stop them “because they wanted the United States to go to war in the Middle East.’

‘Republicans are facing political headaches in the South, where schisms and scandals could undermine the solid grip Republicans have built on the region in the last two decades… The Republican turmoil has raised some Democratic hopes that parts of the South may no longer be as lockstep in support of the Republican Party. But Donald L. Fowler, a former chairman of the Democratic National Committee and the husband of Carol Khare Fowler, South Carolina’s Democratic Party chairwoman, cautions that Republican fatigue doesn’t yet necessarily portend broad Democratic comebacks, particularly in South Carolina. He says it would require a major demographic shift, such as an influx of people from other parts of the country, and a major economic change, such as a depression, to change the landscape.’
What is going on in the South today? We are experiencing exactly what the SC Democratic Party chairwoman spoke of – “a major demographic shif, such as an influx of people….” – most of whom are far less traditional than the average native South Carolinian. While SC may right now be solidly in the hands of the GOP, a weak response to immigration and amnesty in particular could ruin the party’s chances for long term survival. In the past the GOP has been out of touch with South Carolinians regarding the Confederate flag especially. Republican leadership in that fight compromised and thus lost greatly in the public eye. The scandals that are now going on, combined with a weak reaction to the invasion – this could spell big trouble for the GOP.
Of course, the great opportunity is that a new force favoring our rights and sovereignty might step in and fill the vaccum. There hasn’t been a better time in quite a long while.
