The Federal House just recently approved spending another $50 billion of American tax money on the never-ending nation-building project in Iraq. Presumably this vast amount of our tax money will go towards equipping US soldiers there guarding Iraq’s borders, building more schools, roads and other things.
Meanwhile, in the town I grew up in, dozens of trailers sit outside the high schools because the schools are old (and now flooded with illegal aliens who the Feds require us to educate for free). Our roads and infrastructure could definitely use a lot of work. Millions of Americans are without health coverage or a job that provides well for their family. All those billions of dollars (of our taxes) thrown down the drain in the Middle East sure could be better used here at home rather than in the occupation of a country that never attacked us and posed zero risk to our security. If we brought the troops home we could cut taxes, spend our money here at home on much needed improvements, better guard our own borders and eventually scale back dramatically the scope of the Federal government. Don’t forget – this is our money, not theirs.
